Auto Insurance for Women

Insurance is an important part of driving, no matter what your gender. Auto insurance for women is really no different than it is for men. There are certain types of coverage that you are legally required to have. Types you aren't legally required to have but would be crazy to drive without. And coverage that you may or may not need depending on your situation. It is important to look at all of these types of coverage to make sure you have the insurance that you need.

Despite all the jokes about women drivers it turns out that they are actually much better drivers than men. This is why the pay less for auto insurance. In fact auto insurance for women is substantially cheaper than it is for men. This is because the statistics clearly show that they are far less likely to be involved in an accident. Women are generally viewed as being more responsible which contributes to the lower rates but at the end of the day like all insurance premiums it just comes down to the numbers. And the numbers say that women cause fewer accidents than men.

Other than they fact that they get lower premiums there is really no difference between the auto insurance that women have and the insurance that men have. Of course liability coverage is a requirement as it is for all drivers. This is to make sure that if you do cause an accident you are able to pay for the damage that you cause. There will be a legal minimum that you have to have in order to be allowed to drive. Nevertheless most people choose to have more coverage than this. Basically the more assets you have the more insurance coverage you will need to protect them.

You are probably also going to want to have uninsured driver coverage on your insurance policy. While legally everybody is supposed to have insurance to cover them in the event of an accident the sad fact is that a lot of people don't have the coverage they are supposed to have. If you get injured in an accident caused by one of these drivers you are going to be in a tough spot. Having a judgement against them is meaningless if they have no money to pay.

Depending on your situation you may or may not want to have insurance that covers your own vehicle in the event of an accident. If you cause an accident in which your vehicle gets damaged you will be on the hook to pay for the repair costs. Depending on the type of car you drive this could be very expensive. You may want to have insurance to cover this but that will depend on the value of the car. If you are driving a ten year old beater it probably doesn't make sense to have this coverage. On the other hand if you have a brand new luxury car you will probably want it.
